Major Judith Schultz was asked to lead a time of 'Remembrance' for those who lost their homes due to the floods in 1953. This short service took place on the 11th May during an event at the 1st Barking & Dagenham Scout Hut - at which members of the Creekmouth Preservation Society were present to help the youngsters gain their local history awards. The District held their St. George's Day service at Rivergate Church on Sunday, 28th April. It was absolutely wonderful to see over 200 people parading from the 1st Barking & Dagenham Scout hut to the Rivergate Church. The 1st Barking & Dagenham Scouts also provided an entertaining and memorable play, within the service, of St. George and the Dragon. An exciting new adventure for us at the Rivergate Church as we hosted the 'Easter Experience' - primarily for the George Carey Primary school but also for the community a Tuesday evening event, Good Friday meditation concluding with Easter Celebrations on the Sunday. The Easter Experience began on Monday, March 25th through to Easter Sunday on the 31st March. During this period roughly 300+ children from Reception Class to year 6 visited the Experience. |
