Advent is upon us again and it is, I have to admit, my favourite time of the year.
Advent means:
1. a coming into place, view, or being; arrival: the advent of the holiday season.
2. the coming of Christ into the world.
3. the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas, observed in commemoration of the coming of Christ into the world.
4. Second Coming
Advent is also known as the beginning of the Western Liturgical year.
Advent is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of Christmas (the birth of Jesus).
Advent anticipates the coming of Christ from two different perspectives. Advent offers the opportunity to share in the ancient longing for the coming of the Messiah, and to be alert for his Second Coming.

This morning was 'Open Church' from 11am - 1pm and our theme 'Advent Craft'. Janine and I enjoy these mornings as it is SO informal and offers us the opportunity to chat with those who attend whilst engaging in craft work with includes scissors, glue, glitter (general mess) and refreshments :-)
KK lit our first candle, representing HOPE, after Janine read words of Hope from Isaiah 40: 1-5. Folk gave their own words of HOPE for today's world - encouragement, understanding, peace, joy, love, calm, patience, environment, care and we shared in prayer. Thank you everyone.
AND, of course, I am grateful to Aaron, Caitlin, Byron, Maddison and Diana for decorating the Christmas tree and getting the Nativity freeze up on the wall.
